Officer Bios
Phillip R. Jarpa, President
Phillip is a passionate Marketing professional focused primarily in marketing research, strategy and implementation for global corporations. A San Francisco native, raised in the Chilean northern copper mines, he develop most of his professional career in the mining industry at both customer and supplier ends.
He received his B.S. in Business Administration and a Commercial Engineering degree with a major in Marketing from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso in Chile on 2005.
Having done most of his undergraduate internships with CODELCO Chile, world’s largest copper producer, he received an offer upon graduation to join Liebherr Mining Equipment Co. as their Marketing Support Specialist. While in the copmany he was appointed as Project Manager for the company’s participation in MINExpo 2008 and Product Specialist by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) statistics and marketing committees
Phillip joined the Smeal College of Business in the fall of 2008 and the ISBM research center as their graduate assistant. On February 2009 he was elected President of the Smeal MBA Marketing Association and continues to be involved in the Minority MBA Association.

Chinwe Nwadiora, VP of Communications
Chinwe holds her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Temple University. Before attending law school, Chinwe worked as a research assistant for the National Institute of Health, and was a case manager for the Department of Health for the State of Pennsylvania.
While subsequently attending law school in New York, Chinwe was recruited to work as a store manager for Abercrombie & Fitch, where she led the marketing and merchandising divisions. Prior to coming to Smeal, Chinwe practiced matrimonial law in New York City as a civil litigator. Upon obtaining her MBA, she plans on pursuing marketing and law in the entertainment industry.

Margret Ortega, VP of Student Affairs & Events
Margret is from the Philippines where she earned her bachelor’s degree in management at the Ateneo de Manila University. She joined Accenture after graduation and became a project team lead, working at both Accenture’s Manila office and at the client site in Phoenix, Arizona. After four years at Accenture, she joined Citibank’s regional office in Singapore as a business analyst for the technology team. She then transitioned to a career in marketing and joined market research company TNS as an associate research manager. At TNS, she supervised studies for clients like Coca-Cola and McDonald’s.
Margret is also a teaching assistant for the marketing department. Pursuing a marketing concentration at Smeal, she plans to continue her career in marketing after MBA.

John Pingol, VP of Finance
After graduating from Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance, John went on to pursue a career in financial services, working at a brokerage firm. He chose to return to school for his MBA to further develop his marketing acumen as he came to realize the marketing field was his passion. In the near future John plans to be more involved in B2C marketing, specifically brand management.
He chose to attend Smeal because he appreciated the superior faculty, and sense of community that the school has to offer.
