Graduate School Commencement

  • This is the official ceremony where you will wear the cap & gown.
  • View the University Commencement website for official commencement information, cap and gown ordering details, and information for guests.
  • You may order a cap & gown through the Penn State Bookstore.  Please be sure to do so by April 1 to allow sufficient time for processing.  You only need to order a cap & gown IF you are attending the official ceremony. 
  • Master’s candidates attending the ceremony MUST reserve a seat.  In order to reserve a seat, go to the Commencement Ceremony Online Registration Form and sign up.
  • The University will mail your official diploma to you approximately four to six weeks after Graduation.  It will be sent to the mailing address you provide in LionPath.  For more information about your diploma, please visit the Registrar's Graduation webpage.

MBA Pre-Commencement Ceremony

MBA Pre-Commencement marks the culmination of the MBA program for graduating students. It is not the University Graduation, which is held on May 7.  Pre-Commencement is the MBA only graduation recognition event.

Saturday, April 29

Time

2:00 to 5:00 PM  - Ceremony begins promptly at 2PM and will last ~ 1 hour, followed by a reception for graduates and guests.

Graduate Arrival Time

1:00 PM – Please arrive on time. We will take a class photo promptly at 1:15 with a professional photographer from VISTA Studios. (Guests do not need to arrive until 1:30 PM).

Alumni Hall, HUB-Robeson Center

Student Attire

Dress for the ceremony is business professional (men – suits; women - suits or formal dress) – you do not need your name badge. Cap and gown are reserved for the official University commencement ceremony.

Number of Tickets

A survey will be sent in early spring to inquire about the number of tickets you would like to reserve.  We do our best to accommodate your ticket needs, however, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill all requests. If you have any questions, please contact Chelsea Benton-Monahan at .

You do not need a ticket for yourself—you are the guest of honor.  Any guests that will be entering Alumni Hall do need tickets. Please DO NOT use the class listservs to request additional tickets from classmates.

MBA Concentration Certificate

Students will receive a certificate from the MBA Program recognizing the concentration(s) that they have earned within the program.

Class Video

The MBAA will create a class video that we will watch during the Pre-Commencement ceremony.  Additionally, a video will be provided to each class member.

Additional Information

Local Hotels: Hotel reservations for guests are your responsibility. The MBA program will not have rooms blocked at hotels.

International Guests

Often times it can take months to obtain visas for individuals visiting the United States. Please be sure to understand the rules and regulations for your international guests to enter the US to ensure they are present for Pre-Commencement.

If you need an invitation letter, please complete the Request for Letter form and return it to Chelsea at .   *Please be sure to include your guest's name and address as it appears on their immigration documents.
