Penn State Entrepreneurs Network (PSEN)

Entrepreneurship is about capturing and capitalizing on opportunities. The Penn State Entrepreneurs Network (PSEN) is dedicated to empowering students with entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in new venture creation. The mission of PSEN is to promote personal and professional growth of our members through a distinguished lecture series, networking events, business plan competitions, and partnerships with the community.

Carlton graduated from Penn State’s Smeal College of Business with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Carlton is a second-year MBA at the Smeal College of Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Prior to enrolling in the Smeal MBA program, he began his career as a management consultant focused on financial systems. His expertise is in ERP systems with a focus on Finance, Accounting, and Logistics has helped many large multi-national companies advance their transformation initiatives. Carlton has over 17 years of experience in consulting, presales, product development, and business development prior to joining SAP’s Professional Services industry practice in North America.  Carlton has held global roles for SAP and its customers / partners in industries such Automotive, Consumer Products, Public Services and Professional Services.  Companies Carlton has worked for and engaged with include: SAP, Delphi Automotive, Owens Corning, Deloitte Consulting, and IBM with his most recent role as an Industry Principal for Professional Services at SAP America.

Portrait of Arindam Sarkar.Arindam Sarkar, VP of Operations

Arindam is a second-year MBA student at the Penn State Smeal College of Business. He has an engineering degree in Materials Science from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (India), and began his career working with Tata Steel India Ltd. as an Operations Manager for a large steel manufacturing facility. Over the next four years, he helped the unit achieve record performance in production, quality, and delivery, and in process developed deep expertise in Lean Manufacturing, New Product Development, Business Strategy, Project Management, and Supplier Relations. During this period, he led several cross-functional teams for high-impact improvement projects and worked with the top leadership of the company to identify and evaluate long-term projects that would create value for the organization. Arindam has also served as a lead member of the Management Review Team for the Steel Manufacturing Division, and has held administrative roles for the ISO Internal Auditing systems.

Birgitt Boschitsch Stogin is a PhD candidate in the Mechanical Engineering department at Penn State. She conducts research in Dr. Tak-Sing Wong’s lab in the Materials Research Institute. The focus of her research is nature-inspired interfacial engineering (micro/nano tech) with a particular focus on liquid repellent materials. She is passionate about seeing technology resulting from fundamental research translate into products and technologies that people can use. She is therefore interested in promoting communication between researchers and people with business experience, commercialization of research results, and potentially starting her own tech company.
